A year and a half ago I asked about whether Livetraker had any plans to address transitioning between songs and I think the answer I would imply from the response is that Marco didn't think transitions outside of auto advance and/or start were in the realm of live concerts (per Marco) :
"have you ever seen a rock concert where they use "fade"? No. Never. And this is why Livetraker doesn' have such feature. Of course, if your need changes (example: partyband?) then maybe there are several solution out there more suitable for you, but we not more talking about a "live concert", hope you agree ๐ have a good music๐"
While it is true that there are not a ton of one way fades in live concerts, my latest survey was that more than 90% of numbers in live concerts use a form of a cross-fade. For example, trash can ending with big note ringing (diamond) while the click initiates underneath the ending note starts the opening drum beat (at tempo) for the next song with zero dead air in between. Another song might have a big note conclusion and while still sustaining that last note a piano intro for the next song begins (again, no simple serialized drop with dead air waiting for the next song to start). There are literally a hundred variations I surveyed over the last couple of tours. It is the rare exception that a band does a full stop (albeit short) before starting the next song. The point is to create a smooth transition between those 2 songs, not that the band plays a fade out till you can't hear it anymore. Given the professional requirements of the shows that we are playing now we are likely converting over to Qlab as a replacement but I thought I would check one last time because I feel like Livetraker does a good job otherwise but no transitions that allow any kind of overlap between song endings and starts is a no-brainer deal killer. You will never have a professional sheen in a live concert cold stopping between every song before you start the next. There are occasions when you might talk between songs with no background sounds or music but that is an exception not the rule.
